Meet Amelie

Nail tech, educator, and the person behind Totally Polished.

A smiling woman with long, wavy brown hair, wearing a white blouse and bright blue pants, is sitting on a teal chair. She is holding a bottle with a dropper and a small pink liquid inside, likely performing a skincare or beauty routine, in a room with a green plant behind her and beige walls.

I'm Amelie, the nail tech and educator behind Totally Polished in Kelowna, BC. I'm a former automotive girl turned beauty business owner, a mom, a wife, and someone who cares a lot about how people feel in my space — not just how their nails look when they leave.

In my early twenties, after becoming a mom and spending years in an industry that made me miserable, I realized I needed something that felt more creative, more people-focused, and more aligned with who I actually am. That decision eventually became Totally Polished.

Whether you're learning with me online, sitting in my chair for a gel set, or browsing my resources, my goal is the same: that you feel comfortable, informed, and genuinely supported.

How Totally Polished Started

Totally Polished started as a way for me to find myself again. I had spent years working in the automotive industry — that's actually where I met my husband — and even though it paid the bills, I was miserable. I knew I wanted something that felt more creative, more people-focused, and honestly — more "me."

Nails became that thing.

What started as a new challenge quickly turned into something I genuinely loved. I fell in love with the relationships I was building with my clients, the quiet satisfaction of the prep and application process, and the fun, creative outlet that nails gave me.

I've always had a very entrepreneurial brain, so I'm constantly thinking about growth and new ways to serve — but I've also learned that not every path is the right one. I got my lash extension certification in 2020 and realized pretty quickly that it didn't light me up the way nails did, so I let it go and chose to stay focused on what I actually enjoy.

In 2022, I moved from Edmonton to Kelowna and spent a year back in automotive. After an injury and some time off, I decided to pour my energy into nails again — and once my daughter went back to school, I rebuilt my clientele quickly and was fully booked by November that same year.

Totally Polished is the result of all of that: a blend of creativity, care, and intentional choices, built around work I genuinely enjoy and people I genuinely care about.

What Totally Polished Is All About

Education for Nail Techs

Beginner-friendly, theory-based education for aspiring and growing nail techs who want real foundations, not just trends. I teach the "why" behind what you're doing, share what I've learned in the studio, and try to make the industry feel less intimidating and more welcoming — without gatekeeping.

Totally Polished is where my love for beauty, education, and people all comes together.

Here's what that looks like:

Mentoring & Resources

One-on-one support and downloadable tools for nail techs who want practical guidance on technique, business, clients, and confidence. Whether it's a single session or a full mentorship container, I meet you where you're at.

Gel Nails (Kelowna)

Clean, structured gel manicures focused on natural nail health, long-lasting wear, and styles that actually feel like you. My schedule is intentionally limited so I can give each client the time, attention, and care they deserve.

Outside the Studio

Outside of nails and teaching, I'm a wife, a mom, and an animal lover. My family is a huge part of my "why" — they're the reason I care so much about building a business that feels sustainable, not chaotic, and why I'm intentional about my schedule and the way I show up for clients and students.

I absolutely love living in the Okanagan — especially the beach days, paddleboarding in the summer, and the slower, more grounded pace of life.

All of that shows up in Totally Polished: the calm, cozy feel of the studio, the way I talk about balance and boundaries, and my belief that your work should support your real life — not the other way around.

What You Can Expect With Me

Clear communication and boundaries Policies and expectations that protect both of us, explained in a kind, straightforward way.

Supportive, not intimidating Whether you're a client or a student, you're allowed to be new, ask questions, and not know everything yet.
